Saras Mela (fair) at the Central Park (Karunamoyee) Kolkata is the exclusive venue for exhibition of rural Indian traditional products. The fair organised by the joint initiative of the State Government and the Central Government ministry of India. This year in 2015, the fair celebrates its tenth anniversary in the metropolitan city Kolkata. More than 250 stalls displaying their goods which includes mostly hand loom and handicraft products of various states in India. This means another opportunity for you at your doorstep to hop, shop, lunch, dine, etc. for a few days.
The fair decorated with stalls of various sizes from the different states of India and from the various districts as well. Each of the stalls decorated with their personal regional flavor and style. For instance, the stalls of the India's eastern state, Tripura display bamboo rings, curtains, wall hangings, showpieces, flower vases, etc. Similarly, the stalls of the Orissa State display showpieces made from palm leaves, pictures drawn on cotton clothes, bamboo frames, etc. Besides, the stalls of the Bihar State display hand loom Modi coats, saris with the artistic touch of the Madhubani paintings.

Moreover, stalls from the western states of India like Rajasthan display leather animal showpieces, Jodhpuri shoes, ladies shoes, and utensils of silver-brass. The stalls from the Indian state of Gujarat display varies types of dress materials with a stylish Gujarati touch on them. Furthermore, stalls from the Maharashtra state display wooden toys made of sesame wood, key-ring, showpiece, etc.
Stalls from the southern states of India like Karala display iron utensils, knives, axes, etc. Karnataka stalls decorated with south cotton churidar pieces, etc. Stalls of the Northern states like Jammu and Kashmir decorated with woolen frock, ghagra, carpet, etc. On the same note, stalls from the other states of India like Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, etc., display western jackets, designer wall clocks, wall hangings, showpieces, etc.

Moreover, the food court, located beside the stalls, provides you with the opportunity to satisfy your taste-buds with delicious food items at reasonable prices.
