Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test

The scholarship provided through the medium of a test. It's divided into three groups or categories. Candidates (classes X, X1 and X11) of the science stream is under the category of NEST-Junior Candidates of MBBS, BAMS, BAHPS, BUMS, BDS, BCA, BSC (first and second year only) and candidates of Diploma Engineering final year is under the category of NEST-1. Candidates of MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BAS, BCA and BSC (Computer and IT only) is under the category of NEST-11.



NEST-Junior

Candidates from classes X to X11 of the science stream could register their names by paying a registration fee of RS 500 in this scholarship examination. For your information, it's important to mention here that this year there was the scope of online application for registration until 31st March, 2014 by paying a late fee of RS 100 extra and until 30th June, 2014 by paying a late fee of RS 200 extra. The registration fee is to be paid in the name of “SEMCI INDIA” by a demand draft only. The examination centres fall in the capital cities of the states or in other big cities. However, it's to be noted that if the number of candidates in a particular centre gets below one hundred than the institute may change the examination centre at their will. The selected candidates, after the examination, get a sum of RS 20000 as scholarship. Moreover, a certificate of acknowledgement given to candidates securing more than forty percent in the examination.

Syllabus

Generally questions prepared from the CBSE, ICSE and other recognised boards of the states like the SSC and HSC books. The four categories/groups of the examination subjects are given below:

Physics and Chemistry,

Mathematics/Biology,

English Language and

Logic and reasoning.

Each of these subjects have fifty questions carrying fifty marks. The examination duration is of two hours only.

NEST-1

Candidates (first and second year only) of the MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BDS, BCA and BSC could enroll for the NEST-1 scholarship examination. Besides, candidates of the Diploma Engineering final year could also enrol for the examination.

For registration of names RS 600 demand draft in the name of “SEMCI INDIA” should be deposited. This year the enrollment was possible until 30th of November, 2014 by paying a late fee of RS 100 extra. However, one could still register until 31st of December, 2014 by paying a late fee of RS 200 extra. One could also apply by downloading the application form from the official website, www.nest.net.in. After the examination, the selected candidates would get RS 25000 each. The candidate with the highest mark would get RS 75000. Candidates securing forty percent or above would get a certificate of acknowledgment.

Syllabus

Questions are based on objectives, multiple choices, fill in and yes/no types. Candidates need to attempt the following subjects in the question paper as given below:

Physics and Chemistry,

Mathematics/Biology,

Verbal aptitude (English Language),

Logic Thinking (reasoning) and

General Knowledge.

The top three subjects carry fifty questions with fifty marks and the bottom two carries twenty-five questions of twenty-five marks. (one mark in each question). Hence, candidates need to attempt total 200 questions with 200 marks in the time duration of two hours only.

NEST-11

Candidates (third and fourth year only) of MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BDS, BCA and BSC (Computer and IT only) could apply for the NEST-11 scholarship examination. After the examination, selected candidates would get a sum of RS 35000. Candidates with the highest marks would get a sum of RS 1,00,000. Candidates securing more than forty percent would receive a letter or certificate of acknowledgment.

Syllabus

Questions of NEST-11 are similar in nature as those of NEST-1. Candidates need to attempt objectives, multiple choices, fill in and yes/no types of questions. The subjects and marks are similar to those of the NEST-1 examination, mentioned above.
