East Midnapore or the Purba Midnapore is one division of the Midnapore having its headquarters located at Tamluk. Some of the notable towns and cities located here are Panskura, Haldia, Digha, Chandipur, Mandarmani, Tamluk, Mecheda, etc. Midnapore is easy accessible by the road and the rail routes from the metropolitan city of Kolkata as it locates 112 Kilometres away. Regular local trains and buses available from the Howrah Station and Dharmatala (Esplanade) bus terminus. Apart from being famous for as a suitable tourist place, it also has an array of picnic spots located in its vicinity. Junput
Junput is located twenty to twenty five minutes away from the Kanthi. One road from the Kanthi leads towards the Digha while the other leads to the Junput. Besides the sea-beach, you would also find pine forest, vast water bodies and shades of uncountable trees. For suitable lodging the Junput Resort is available for the visitors.
Bankiput
Kanthi lies on the way of Kolkata-Digha route. From Kanthi you need to head towards the Junput. To reach the Bankiput sea-beach, you need to travel another three to four kilometres from the Junput. The sea-beach and the pine trees would definitely catch your attention. Besides, you would also find the Kapalkundala Temple, Old Lighthouse, etc., over here. Tajpur
At the present, it's getting popular as a tourist and picnic spot. Locating beside the Bay of Bengal, it has vast open area of sand and the pine forest. Visitors gather here for the picnic activity in this pine forest. If you board a bus from the Kolkata, you need to get down at the Balisai located 12 Kilometres ahead of the Digha. The Tajpur beach locates four kilometres away from the Balisai.
Chandipur
Another beautiful sea-beach attraction located between the Tajpur and Shankarpur. On the way to Digha, you may get down at the Balisai and head towards the Chandipur. It would take around fifteen minutes to reach the Chandipur sea beach.
Digha
Digha is popular not only for weekend tours, but also for the picnic activity. To enjoy a picnic on the lap of the Bay of Bengal is an awesome experience. Plenty of picnic spots available here including the pine forests of the Old Digha and the New Digha. Besides, you may also plan to go a little further to Talasari beach. Mandarmani

It's another popular seaside village where people flock for the picnic activity every year. It is located on the way of Digha at a distance of 180 kilometres away from Kolkata. If you are lucky, you would get a live view of the red crawling crabs prowling over the longest sea beach. You need to get down at the Chawalkhola and travel another 12 kilometres to reach here. Several hotels available here for suitable lodging of the visitors.
Kolaghat
It locates 54 kilometres away from the metropolitan city of Kolkata. The Howrah district is located on one side of the Rupnarayan river while the Midnapore is located at the other. The bank of the river gets crowded with the picnic lovers during the Christmas and New Year. Besides, the region is also famous for the tasty dishes of the Hilsa fish.
Geonkhali
Geonkhali is a village with scenic beauty located 130 kilometres away from the Kolkata at the confluence of the Hooghly and the Rupnarayan rivers. The meeting point of the rivers catches the attention as it gets as wider as the sea. People gather here for picnic at the riverbank under the shade of green trees.
Nayachar
The picnic spot is located between the Hooghly and the Haldi rivers. It's an island in the Hooghly river inhibited mostly by the fishermen popularly known as the Meendwip. The word Naya means new and the word Char means a piece of sandy land. The rural atmosphere, mangrove forest, rows of the coconut trees, prawn project of the fisheries would set you mood for the picnic.
Balughata
You need to board a bus going for the Haldia and get down at the Balughata. Enjoy your picnic at the bank of the Haldi river on the green grass under the cool shade of green trees. A nice spot for the nature lovers. You could enjoy the early sunrise and the evening sunset. A lot of birds flock here during the winter.
