Yoo-hoo friends! Arati is back to you once again against all the odds. And, I would love to come here as long as you are generous to my write-ups. How are you doing? I hope everything is fine with you all! Now, tell me didn’t you like my last write-up? Well, a silence from your side is equivalent to thousand cheers and I would take that. Thank you!

Today’s show is about a weekend destination located 226 kilometres away from the Kolkata city. Let me inform you beforehand it’s not as popular as other weekend destinations of Bengal, but certainly a cool and calm place for those who want to step aside from the speedy boat of city life for a change. Here, I am referring about Kuilipal in the Purulia district of the West Bengal state. For me, a weekend here, means a turning point or an inspiration because it stretches my inner potential to relive and enjoy life to the core.

Attractions and activities

Kuilipal, located in the Bundwan block, is a small village panchayat area that peacefully co-exists with Bankura, Purulia and Midnapore districts of West Bengal. The region is covered by the thick growth of trees resembling a dense forest. However, most of the forest canopy comprises of the Segun trees. A Forest Bungalow is strategically located within this thick growth of trees. Two red soil pathways pass through either side of the Bungalow. If you plan to trek or take a leisurely walk on these narrow pathways these would lead you towards the interiors of the region, into the tribal villages. Definitely, walking through the red soil ways has its own degree of added excitement which no one should miss once being here. The mud huts, on either side of the walkways, resemble the rural picture we find in children’s art book.

Even if you plan to stay indoor in the forest Bungalow, you won’t be a bit disappointed. From any of the rooms of the two-room Forest Bungalow you could witness the silence of the surrounding. For a moment or two, you may feel like the clock has stopped ticking or passing like a slow-motion scene of a super hit romantic Bollywood movie. Well, as I mentioned before, you are left with the options here to decide either to stay inside or move out or have the excitement of both. You may relax at the open space in front of the forest Bungalow or plan to take leisurely walk to Jhilimili, Lalgola or Bansberia in the surrounding regions. The night brings a degree of liveliness in the tranquil atmosphere of the region. You may find the local villagers lighting a bonfire and dancing with the rhythm of drums. Everything around including the nature join with the men and women to spend a few hours in recreation.

All these, certainly brings in a change in the mood of visitors. You may buy tidbits from the ordinary market Kuilipal. However, the Friday and the Sunday markets are popular here as people come of the surrounding regions wait for these two days for their shopping needs.

Nearby attractions: Some of the important nearby attractions of the region include Jamshedpur (36 kilometres), Bishnupur (96 kilometres) and Bankura (96 kilometres). All these places are important tourist spots and people who come to these regions may plan to come down here for a day or two or vice-verse.

To get there

Board a train from the Howrah Station to Jhargram. From here board a bus to Podadi More. The Forest Bungalow is located within one kilometre distance from the bus stop. Alternatively, board a South Bengal bus from Esplanade, Dharmatala bus depot to get down at Jhilimili. From here the distance is only two kilometres. However, the bus services is still underdeveloped between Jhargram and Kuilipal.

Bengali word ‘Nirbashito’ in English means ‘Banished’. If you are wondering what makes me quote its meaning, then relax because the suspense is going to unfold within a couple of seconds. National award winning Bengali movie, Nirbashito is releasing on the 14th of August, 2015. It’s not a meagre achievement by any standard for a debutant director to get honoured by a national award on the very first venture.

Although director Churni Ganguly received the national award for her first movie, but admits she didn’t expect it coming her way at any point while making the movie. However, she recalls how hard she had to work out being in the process of making the movie. She had to spend around one and a half years penning down the story of the film.

Other important characters are Biplab Chattopadhyay, Saswata Chatterjee, Raima Sen, Dipnakar Dey, Kaushik Ganguly, Kishan Bhimani, Lars Belhika, Martin, Wailstorm, Lia Boysen and Joakin Granberg. Release date – 14th August, 2015

Story

Nirbashito should not be mistaken as a biopic of Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen. Rather the movie depicts incidences within the time frame when the writer had to leave her motherland and was in search of a shelter. Hence, it is inspired by certain portions of her life with added fiction.

The film highlights the pain of living away from motherland and the story of a mother and a daughter. Even though the main female character in the film lacks a name, but she is popular to some as a writer or to some others as a doctor. She has been portrayed as a female author who could live in any of the socio conditions or in any country. A woman whom the society doesn’t hesitate to abandon when she speaks her heart out or expresses her opinions from within. Well, this woman could be any other common woman living in the society or in a family, taking care o the family members, but in crisis she doesn’t hesitate to stand and face the situation. A woman who could face all the troubles, but don’t fear to express herself when the situation demands so from her.

The film would also disclose the pain of separation between a mother and a daughter. Maybe Baghini is simply a cat for others, but a daughter for the author. Circumstances compel her to leave her daughter behind and shift abroad. The daughter has no way to reach her mother. The author is left now with sadness, separation and pain in a foreign land where no one understands her language nor does she understand their language.

Preview

It’s a must watch movie for everyone because it belongs to a different genre. The film is close to reality and would appeal to all. It depicts the picture of society in black and white and the struggle of a single woman in her life. Indeed, it speaks silently about certain crucial factors like the need of women empowerment and the very thought process of society. Moreover, the background music of the movie, the inclusion of the Swedish actors and the on-screen captions are the other attractive features of the movie. The captions would appeal everyone as it would help people with different language background to understand the movie well.

Mother and Father both play a major role in Parenting – Do you agree?

Last week, it was another breezy weekend here in Kolkata as Life Breezy planned to do a little bit of brain storming with the locals. It moved out in the parks, malls, restaurants, and even on the roads searching for couples, especially young parents, who could share their views on the debate topic – Mother and father both pays a major role in parenting – Do you agree?

The sun peered out through the clouds every now and then and an air of impeccable charm conveyed in the overall atmosphere of this lovely city. We accept the people living here are friendly, peaceful and never minds enjoying a hot cup of cha (tea) while discussing on any topic of the earth. Our discussion on the topic progressed and mind you they were going on all guns blazing. Life Breezy promised them as well that they would surely be invited or called upon for their views whenever it would plan to come up with another debatable topic in the future. Given below is a brief synopsis of their point of views on the debatable topic.

Kavita Shukla, a designer

I hope the topic of debate gets reads, gossipped about and covered by many in your site and outside as well. I believe such topics of debates should be encouraged more in your site. Now, coming back to the topic of debate I would like to add there is no point bringing out a comparison what used to happen before and what is happening now.

Today, the social-economic condition of women has completely changed. The bullet point is both men and women are equally busy in life today therefore both of them need to take equal responsibilities in child upbringing. Well, this is not possible overnight, but may work out gradually with understanding and affection. As we go by, we may find many examples of men who are not proficient when it comes about managing children, but this should neither be treated as a shortcoming nor an excuse. However, I believe both parents should try to divide the responsibilities among themselves. Today, a man should understand that if a woman has stepped out of the four-walls of the house, it’s because of her responsibility towards the family.

Soma Das, CCA

This is an interesting moment for me and I’m feeling great because this is the first time I’m getting LIVE with Life Breezy. I believe both parents should play a key role in child rearing. However, in real life things doesn’t work out always the way we think about it.

I suppose, among other things, how one is busy in life matters the most. You see, fathers are more busy with office or work and in this case it’s not easy to shoulder equal responsibility with the mothers in child rearing. On the other hand, the same rule applies for working mothers as well. In such a scenario, role of other family members including the elders come into play. You may take my example – both of us (my hubby and me) are busy with offices and therefore our children spend most of their time with their granny. Initially, it seemed tough, but now things have got simplified and life has become easier for us. To be frank, the subject is totally based on mutual understanding of the life partners. However, it’s a universally accepted formula that when responsibilities are shared among the family members things become lot easier.

Samir Khan, businessman

It’s never easy to detail the subject of the topic in a few words. However, I would like to give my best shot in brief. It’s the mothers who give birth to children. She looks after the children until they reach the stage of life where they could take care of themselves.
For example, my father was a businessman as he was very close and dear to me. However, during my illness I could think only about my mother. Her mere presence was calm and comforting to me. This same rule applies to my children also and to many other children as well. However, it’s a fact that after crossing a certain stage in life both the father and son enjoy a better friendly relationship among themselves. In my opinion, even if the parents try to jointly share the child rearing responsibility from the beginning the idea doesn’t work out properly in the long run because of the child. Therefore, it’s always a better idea to have different responsibilities set out when it comes about ideal parenting.

Zoya Azmi, head trainer, fitness

The topic of the debate is partially applicable in real life, but I bet it’s not complete in the true sense. Right from feeding, changing napkins to teaching the first letters of the alphabets it’s the mothers who play the major role.

Children have attachments with mothers right from the infant stage because only a mother could fulfil to his/her wants at that stage. Besides, mothers play an unparallelled role in the overall development of children whether it’s education, health, awareness or anything else for that matter right from the beginning. The very importance of a mother’s role in parenting could be understood from the fact that it’s only the mothers who are eligible to get the maternity leave not the fathers.

Pawan Kumar, teacher

While it’s true that in scenarios where both the parents are working they get less time to devote to the children, but the discussion should not stop here. Personally, I know parents who in spite of been working professionals devote sufficient time to children. In families where the male counterpart attends office regularly the female counterpart takes the full-fledged responsibility of the children. I honestly could not accept the fact that working fathers shy away from their responsibilities. Being a father myself, I could state that once we settle in these shades family responsibility becomes our priority as well. I believe the foundation of any successful relationship is understanding and with greater understanding comes bigger responsibilities. Having said that we exactly cannot weigh in a beam balance which of the parents has a greater responsibility. However, if we plan or work in co-ordination together then things get that much simpler and life becomes more enjoyable on this earth.

Now, it’s your turn to contribute in the discussion either for or against the topic. Don’t shy away from posting your thoughts in the comment section of this post. Do let us know your opinions and thoughts on the subject as we respect your opinions and those are valuable to us.

Do you think it is better to opt for one day short distance outings, nearby with friends and family rather than planning for long distance travels? Yes? No? May be? No matter what is your opinion or answer on this, there is no harm in a little debate! If you ask me, I did a survey on this in the recent past and out of the first ten people I interviewed most of them had the opinion that they prefer short distance or one day travel destinations more than anything else. They had their own reasons and justifications for this like it needs less preparation, brings in refreshment for the family in quick time, could be planned anytime, it suits everyone’s budget, etc. Definitely, it got me thinking! However, Life Breezy thinks both long distance and short distance travels have their own charisma, charm and beauty and one could not be ignored at the expense of other.

Let’s keep this debate aside for now and move on as Life Breezy is planning to spread some love this week with another picnic spot. The Suakhal Park situated at Rajhat in Hooghly is a wonderful picnic spot located 50 kilometres away from Kolkata. It would take around two and a half hours to reach the destination from the city.
