After having a wonderful time during the Durga Puja, Kolkata is inching towards the Dhanteras, Kali Puja and Diwali celebration. It’s another opportunity for the Kolkata metropolis to get adorned with lighting and match up step- by-step with the rhythm of music. Every corner of the city is busy preparing for these events. Branded jewelry stores and confectionery shops are displaying big banners and some of these are shelling out attractive discounts on purchases. The ‘City of Joy’ gets painted with the festive spirit days before the actual events. The evening is drawing people from the neighbourhood regions to attend and participate in the lively events organised by the local puja committees. Then. Taltala region, opposite Entally Market is coming up with the theme of famous Kamakhya Temple setup on its 125th year of Kali Puja celebration. Here, regular functions and music during the evening pulling out the neighbours in large numbers. Furthermore, special puppet show is also organised here for the spectators.

Besides, the Janbazar Sammilita Kali Puja Samity is also in the limelight for regular entertaining evening shows. The lighting, music and live performances by well-known artists turning each evening show a memorable one. The whole setup appears attractive with wonderful lighting display at various points, flashlights on the sky, a centre stage for live performances and a huge Puja Mandap for idols.

Meena Chowbey, a housewife (named changed) pointed out, “it’s nice to note that we are celebrating these festive events in a grand way. We are really thankful for the dedication and hard work of the organisers to make the entire thing so eventful. These small things go a long way to bind us together. Every evening, we are gathering together to enjoy the ongoing functions and events.” Another local, Mr. Agarwal, (named changed) a local shop owner says, “These lighting, colours and music add up to the spirit of the festival. After all, Diwali and Kali Puja are noteworthy festivals to have some fun and entertainment together. I come here every day to enjoy every bit of these ongoing celebrations.
