The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship for children

The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) provides The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship facility to talented children between the age group of 10 to 14 years. This noble effort going on so that the children continue with their talents, develop and shape those in the respective artistic fields in the future as well. Children with talents in the literary arts, performing arts and visual arts including handicrafts, clay arts, drawing and painting, singing and dancing, playing flutes, etc., studying under any recognized schools or practicing family traditional art forms eligible for this scholarship.




Scholarship validity and age

Selected children initially get the scholarship for two years and then it gets renewed after every two years until the children reach twenty years of age or complete the first university degree, whichever is earlier.

Generally children in the age group of 10 to 14 years could apply for the scholarship. However, for children belonging to other categories the age limit relaxed by two years.

Selected children get a monthly scholarship of RS 300 to RS 400 each.

Eligibility Criteria

Following are the eligibility criteria for the scholarship program:

  • Children should study in any of the recognized schools
  • Children belonging to families performing or acting in any of the traditional arts need to do the art professionally to get considered for the scholarship
  • Children undergoing cultural training for three or more years under any institute or a teacher eligible for the scholarship


Application process

One may download the application form from the www.ccrtiindia.gov.in website. Parents or teachers of the applying children should fill-up the application form and submit it. Each candidate should apply for a single subject or talent. A teacher could apply for the scholarships of three students only under his training. However, a teacher training in different institutes/organization could send the applicants of three students from the different institutes/organization. For the calendar year 2015, the last date of application was 31st of December, 2014. However, for the year 2016 application date details one needs to keep an eye at the website. Normally, the last date of application falls in the month of December, every year.

Documents

Following documents should be furnished along with the application form:


  • ST and PH students should send ST and PH certificates along with the applicant.
  • Students applying for the Arts subjects should submit a certificate from the teacher along with the application form specifying the type, duration and other important details of the training clearly.
  • Teacher's bio-date should be submitted along with the application form.
  • Students applying for the Painting category should submit their teacher's bio-data and three copies of their latest work (Original/Xerox) along with their application.
  • Students applying for Crafts, Sculpture, etc., should send their copies of latest work attested by the teacher and teacher's bio-data along with the application form.


Selection Process

After the through scrutiny of the applications, 620 candidates should be invited for the interview by post. The dates of interview normally fall between the months of May to July every year. Children belonging to families earning less than RS 6000 per month given priority during selection. Children belonging to families practicing traditional arts given priority as well.
