Bengali Upcoming Movie Kamala Sundari (2015): Cast, crew and Storyline

Kamala Sundari is an upcoming Bengali movie based on the experience of a cute naughty girl becoming an actress by the director Shankha Ghosh. The film is shot at the wonderful locations of the Kolkata city and at the interiors of the West Bengal State including Baruipur. Although it could be rated as an offbeat movie, but it has all the substance of a good entertaining movie. It promises a good storyline, able direction, nice songs and great performances of the artists. The film would enter different film festivals before its final release. A must watch film after it finally gets down to the floors for a release. Rituparna Sengupta plays the character of Sundari while Pallav Kirtania plays the character of Kanai.

Kamala is a sweet and naughty girl living in the Kusumpur Village. From her childhood she cherishes the dream to become an actress. Besides, she could sing and dance as well. Her childhood friend and lover introduces her to the director of the Nat Narayan Opera in the Kusumpur village. She expresses her long cherished dream of becoming an actress to the drama (jatra) director. When she was young she used to participate in the stage shows and thus she is well adapted with the art of acting. However, the current of time swiped away the stage shows (jatras). Modernisation has replaced the stage shows with dance. Since Kamala is a good dancer Nripati Nath allows her to join his small group.

Soon a Kolkata based director, Nageshwar Goyal gets impressed by her dancing skills. He convinces Kamala to come in Kolkata and fulfill her ambition of becoming an actress. However, Kanai objects to this. But then Kamala has made her mind to come Kolkata with Nageshwar. In Kolkata, fortune has something else in store for her as she could not become an actress here. She works as an item girl in a film of Nageshwar's friend.

Soon this news reaches to Kanai. Soon he leaves the village for Kamala in Kolkata. While returning to their village, the sound of a stage show (jatra) catch their attention. They find rehearsal going on for the “Laila Majnu” stage show. The boy, rehearsing as Majnu, fails to deliver the dialogues properly. Kanai get up on the stage and delivers the dialogue flawlessly. Witnessing all these happening in front of her eyes Sundari could not restrict herself. She starts delivering the dialogues of Laila. But two questions still remains to be explored here: Would Sundari return to stage shows (jatras) once again? Would she settle in Kusumpur with Kanhai? Certainly, to get these answers we need to wait until the movie release.
