Eligibility Criteria
Though different institutes have different requirement criteria, but candidates who want to pursue a career in this profession must be a Higher Secondary (10+2) pass or a Graduate in any discipline. Besides, age should be within the range of 17 years to 35 years. Minimum height of candidates should be 150 centimetres and physical weight should correspond the height. Fluency in the English and Hindi languages are must. Moreover, having fluency in other foreign languages would be an extra yardstick to grab this job. Overall, pleasant personality, good communication skills, fair complexion, sense of responsibility and positive attitude are some of the important must have qualities for candidates entering into this profession. Knowledge about the history, geography and culture of the different geographical locations count too. Eyesight should be normal and without any specs. Knowing swimming also weighs in advantage.
Nature of the Job
As an Air hostess one needs to check the flight tickets and boarding cards of the passengers. One should have fair knowledge about the geographical route of the aircraft. One needs to serve drinks, breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc., to the passengers. Besides, should also serve magazines and view cards to the passengers. Providing first-aid and helps, co-operating with the youngsters, informing the passengers about any unfavourable conditions beforehand and showing how to tie or untie belts during emergency are the other work of the Air hostesses.
Salary Structure: The minimum salary ranges from RS 25,000 to RS 50,000. Besides, employees would also avail the facilities of provident fund, gratuity, medical benefit, flight allowance, etc in this aviation job.
Selection Procedure
One must remember here that confidence holds the key. Candidates are selected by group discussion and interview. First, the applications are scrutinised for the required qualification of the candidates and due importance also given to the profile pictures of the candidates to find out if those were photogenic. After this scrutiny follows the written examination. However, some institutes don't take the written examination. Those institutes who takes the written examination relies on the subjects like General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Mathematics and English. Next, follows the Group Discussion procedure. Here, candidates given a particular subject to speak and contribute their views. Doing well here means increasing one's chances to qualify. Then follows the personal interview. Here, special care is given on appearance, pronunciation and presentation skills. Finally, one must make sure to go through the newspaper headlines on the day of the interview.
After clearing the oral examination, one needs to take the medical examination. After taking the height and weight in to consideration, physicians may examine for the possibility of any problem in the body. Tests like the X-ray and dentine tests for the condition of teeth and gums also taken. After successful clearance of the medical tests, candidates get ready for the training.
