Susunia Pahar is an unmatched picnic spot located in the Bankura District of the Bengal State. We have used the term ‘unmatched’ for it because there is only a few such spot in the state that offer a pleasant, an undisturbed, and a calm atmosphere where people could soak themselves in the realm of natural beauty. Situated not too far away from the metropolitan city Kolkata it has been the fulcrum of interest for everyone.
Attractions
The charm of the spot is beyond any description. If you come here for an outing, you may feel that any of the hills is inviting you for a one-to-one session chat in solitude. During winters, people especially from the Durgapur and Bankura regions, gather here in buses, trucks, and in their own vehicles for a wonderful picnic gathering. One big reason for this is that it’s located quite close to the Bankura. It’s worthwhile to mention here that the altitude or height of the Susunia Hill is around eleven hundred feet from the ground. Viewing the sunset from the top of this ancient Susunia Hill is an exciting experience that visitors enjoy here. Besides, the evening here is as popular as the day for the spot wears a beautiful appearance on a moonlit night as well.
Beginning from the several rock faces, hillocks to natural springs, and herbal plants all are treasured in its vicinity. Understandably, with the passage of time, it gained popularity among everyone as an ideal destination for camping, rock climbing and as a wonderful day’s outing. Moreover, the region holds significance as an archaeological site as well for quite often it unveils age old utensils, tools, and equipment long buried underneath its bosom.
Wholesomely, a pollution-free environment, the overhead clear sky, and the cool breeze add the perfect setting for a wonderful and memorable outing. Since the picnic spot is near the spring you may enjoy a bath in the spring waters as well. Bathing in the spring waters is a different experience altogether because it imperceptibly binds us close to nature. The feel of the crystal clear water has a magic effect on the body and in the mind. However, it would be ideal to carry all the necessary foodstuff or all the utensils or equipment required for the picnic activity from home.
