Kapilash situated at the Dhenkanal town of the Orissa State. The abode of God Chandrasekhar Mahadev (Shiva) located at the foothills of the highest peak in the Kapilash mountain ranges. Resting peacefully at an altitude of more than 2100 feet above the ground, it's popular as the Kailash of Orissa. During the pious occasion of the Mahashivaratri festival, an annual fair of three days organised here. Visitors come from far and wide to take part in the fair. Besides, a lot of devotees also come here to pour water on the holy Shivling on the festive occasion.

For convenience, you may hire a car to visit these places. A car hire may cost around RS 1600. However, these hired cars don't take tourists to the temples. These stop at a certain point nearby. To reach entrance of the temple you need to climb the 1575 steps.
Walking on the shady roads covered by trees and passing by the spring waters keep you refreshed for long. Make your way to the Deer Park, Science Park and enjoy boat riding on the waters of the Zoo. How to reach
You may board any of the trains travelling to Puri or Chennai. Some of the trains available from the Howrah Station, Kolkata are the Falaknuma Express (morning), Chennai Mail (night), Dhauli Express (morning), Sri Jagannath Express (evening), Coromandel Express (afternoon), etc. Since the distance is 410 kilometres, a train journey may consume around six to seven hours. Next, from the Badambadi Bus Stand at Cuttack, board a bus for Dhenkanal to cover the 21 kilometres distance. After reaching Dhenkanal, board a bus, trekker or a taxi for Kapilash, located 17 kilometres away.
Lodging/Stay
For a comfortable stay at the Kapilash rely on Panthasala of the Orissa Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC). Here, rent for a double bed RS 150 and the rent for dormitory RS 30. Make sure to book in advance. Alternatively, you may choose OTDC Dhenkanal Panthanivas. Rent for the double bed ranges from RS 700 to RS 1250.
