Multi-Skilled workers need of the hour in the Indian health sector. The crisis in multi-skilled workers arena like nurses, medical staffs, etc., have made the governments to think over again and come up with the required solutions for the future. Hence, grooming and training is the need of the hour so that in the future jobs like nursing, etc., taken up by the males to fit the gap. Though the concept of Multi-Skills male health worker is common in other countries of the world, but in India it is in the preliminary stage.
The State Medical Faculty of West Bengal is an autonomous body established by the West Bengal Government. The Multi-Skilled workers course
The Multi-Skilled Worker course, is a new addition to the list of courses, begun from the 2013- 2014 calendar year. New forms, for admission in the course, available during the September. Now, the course done only at the Netaji Subhas Sanatorium, Kalyani, in the Nadia district of the West Bengal State. The candidates, selected by the State Medical Faculty of West Bengal, would get the opportunity to get a job in the government sector after successfully clearing the course. It compulsory for the aspirants to live in the hostels during completion of the course. The course duration two and a half years with six months of compulsory training. Moreover, they need to go through the practical training program after the final examination at the various state-run hospitals. The annual course fee ranges around RS 6000 per annum.
Eligibility Criteria
10+2 Pass: Candidates need to pass the Higher Secondary (10+2) examination in the Science Stream from any of the recognised universities/councils/boards in India. They need to have the individual pass marks in physics, chemistry and life science subjects.
Age: During the time of application that is on the 1st of September, an applicant need to be within the age groups of 17 to 30 years.
Fitness and character certificate: Candidates need to submit a physical fitness certificate by a registered physician and two references from people (not relatives) stating the general characters of candidates.
Selection Procedure
Selection based on the merit list. On a particular day, the merit list candidates need to come along with all the required documents in original for the counselling. After the proper scrutiny process, the candidates get permission for admission.
Number of seats and Reservation
There were 100 seats available in the Netaji Subhas Sanatorium, Kalyani, in the Kalyani District for the 2013-2014 academic year. The course is only for the males. The reservation applicable according to the government law. However, for the 2013-2014 calendar year there were no reservations as such.
